GIVE US YOUR FEEDBACK ON THE HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM UNTIL NOVEMBER 30!
As you may know, the Ontario Government has rolled back the Health & Physical Education (Sex Ed) curriculum to 1998. This outdated curriculum leaves out several topics that are relevant and important to supporting our LGBTQ2 kids. This includes topics like the understanding of gender and sexual diversity, consent, cyber-bullying and the tools to tackle several other important realities that kids face in 2018.
Both elementary and high school students need to know it is ok to be LGBTQ2, and that it’s natural and normal. This simple message will reassure students, increase acceptance and reduce bullying. It must be in the new curriculum. Students need information before they get into trouble.
What You Can Do
As part of the consultation process outlined by the Ontario Government, we are asking our LGBTQ2 friends, families and allies to provide Pflag with your feedback on the curriculum by filling out the form below. As much as possible, please include personal stories of how the curriculum has impacted you, your family, or your child, or the impact that you believe changes to the curriculum could have.
Deadline: Friday, November 30, 2018, at 11:59PM EST
The results will be submitted in an official Ontario-wide Pflag Chapter submission to the Province.
