Some people change the world loudly. Others do it by simply showing up and refusing to disappear.Quinn came out as transgender and non-binary in 2020, at a time when trans athletes were being pushed out of sport, not celebrated in it. They showed up anyway. A year later, they stood on the Olympic podium in Tokyo as the first openly transgender and non-binary athlete in history to win an Olympic gold medal - and made sure the moment wasn’t just about them.“I feel sad knowing there were Olympians before me unable to live their truth,” Quinn wrote. “The fight isn’t close to over… and I’ll celebrate when we’re all here.”They called it unfinished.
