pflag Canada releases Belonging in Action
On Saturday, October 31, pflag Canada releases Belonging in Action, our strategic plan for 2027 to 2031, at the Community-Based Research Centre’s Summit 2026 in Toronto.
Summit brings together the people working on 2SLGBTQIA+ health across Canada: researchers, health providers and community organizations. It is the right place to share a plan that depends on partnership.
Belonging in Action sets five priorities: stronger support for our chapters and the volunteers who lead them; equity, diversity and inclusion in practice, improving our organization while expanding the support we offer the diverse people who come to our chapters; better access for families in rural, remote and northern communities; partnerships with organizations people already turn to for other kinds of support; and educational resources for the schools, health providers, faith communities and workplaces around young people.
“When a parent reaches out to pflag for the first time, they want to talk with someone who has been where they are,” said Christopher Longtin, Chair of pflag Canada’s Board of Directors. “This plan is about making sure that person is there, wherever a family lives.”
At the CBRC release, visitors will add a thread and contact information to a shared loom, tying their own work to one of the plan’s priorities. Support, belonging and advocacy have always been woven together at pflag. The plan works best when others weave themselves in too.
